Centers Rock!

Elements of Developmentally Appropriate Learning Centers:
a. Active manipulation of objects
b. Materials that are engaging and engage all senses
c. Freedom of body movement
d. learning through interesting experiences.
e. freedom to interact with others

Children are given extended periods of time to complete activites.  You say you have no time?  You can incorporate any skill you are teaching or wanting children to learn into a center activity.

In centers children are:
a. encouraged to think, give reasons and solve problems
b. time is spend constructing projects and learning concepts they have been introduced to

Children should be grouped with children from a variety of developmental abilities

I hear, and I forget!
I see, and I remember!
I do, and I understand
