Name Activities
Children love to hear and see their name! Use name games to get children involved!
Name/Picture Game. Take pictures of students the first week of school. Use the pictures and names on your word wall, on their cubbies, tables, during centers, at carpet time, and under the alphabet. I hang an alphabet in my classroom and I use it as the name word wall. It stays up all year long. When I taught morning and afternoon, I distinguished the two by using blue for morning and red for afternoon.
NAME SORT. Name goes at the top of the page, or board, and then they sort letters that are in their name and letters that are NOT in their name.
Name blocks---Take old blocks and put capital and lowercase letters on them with a marker or stickers. Let children put their names together, or sight words etc.
Name Book
Children are always wanting to know how to spell their friends' names or the teachers name. Make a book and put it in a center for them to copy.
