Picture
Piercing Pumpkins I would put this in a interchangeable center.

  • A medium sized pumpkin
  • A child's play hammer
  • Golf tees
You will need to have newspaper down for this activity and closely supervise.  Children will hammer the golf tee into the pumpkin.

This will help children develop:
Small and large motor skills (Children can pull the golf tees out when finished)
Visual perception
Language development

Mini Pumpkin Patch Sand and water table

fill your sand and water table with fake spider web.  Inside hide letters, spiders, mini pumpkins, ghosts etc.  Children can search for items, list items, write a story about items etc.

Leaf Collage Art center

Cut large leafs out.  After you take your students on a FALL walk or a leaf hunt let each student make a leaf collage on  their leaf!  You can even paint the leaf before hand.

Pumkin Parts (sensory center)

Cut a pumpkin into several pieces. Place each piece on a separate tray, leaving the pulp and seeds intact. Place the tray at a center along with several plastic knives and plastic kitchen scrapers. Have children describe smell, textures, and have them remove pulp etc.

P is for Pumpkin! (literacy)

Mix pumpkin spice into a batch of orange play dough. Put the dough at a center along with a rolling pin, small pie tins, and several letter P cookie cutters. When a child visits the center and uses a rolling pin and play dough have them make a pretend pie, and cut the letter P out etc.
